Volunteers Week 2024

Shining a light on the brilliant folks who give up their time to help the Coro!

This week is Volunteers’ Week, the annual celebration of all the amazing people who give up their time to help the many charities and organisations that benefit their local communities.

As part of it, we’ll be shining a light on the volunteers who help us in a variety of different roles at the Coro!

Barbara and Paul Bundy have been front of house volunteers for around three years, helping us out with meeting and greeting visitors, helping them find their seats and dealing with any issues they may have.

Both retired, they were inspired to join the Coro as volunteers after enjoying many great concerts and events over the years, both as a couple and with their family.

“The Coro is such an important part of the town that I wanted to do whatever I could to help out so future generations will be able to enjoy it as much as we do,” said Barbara.

Both have an eclectic taste in music and theatre and enjoy volunteering at events as diverse as rock gigs to pantomimes – Paul even got the chance to don a T-Rex costume for a special dinosaur show last year!

Paul said: “There is a real sense of community in Ulverston and the Coro is a big part of that.  We both really love being part of the close team at the Coro and as volunteers we always feel really supported and valued. Every effort is always made to make sure the roles we are given fit in with our experience and interests.”

We have around 30 volunteers who get involved in everything from checking tickets to setting up for events.  If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved email hello@thecoro.co.uk or pop in and see us!
