Model Town Ulverston
Help us create a mini version of our favourite place!
Ulverstonians are being invited to show their civic pride by joining a special project which will see the creation of a miniature replica of the town.
This summer we are launching Model Town Ulverston, a community art project which aims to recreate the buildings, streets and landmarks in a unique “walk around” carbon copy of the town which will go on display here at the Coro in August.
Our art leader Amy is hoping to encourage local businesses, schools and organisations to get involved by making mini versions of their own buildings and she will be running a number of drop-in workshops from 29 July to 3 August. All materials will be provided and Amy will be on hand to provide artistic assistance to anyone taking part.
Amy said: “We want as many local people to get involved as possible so we have put together a special pack with suggestions, hints and tips about how to do it and what materials to use etc. Participants can either make their models themselves or it would be lovely to see them attend one of our workshops at which there will be lots of boxes, paper, cardboard and paints to use.
“It will be incredible to see the Coro’s main hall transformed into a miniature Ulverston and see the many different ways people interpret the unique character of this amazing town we are lucky to call home!”
