A solo violin opens the concert with Pēteris Vasks’ hauntingly beautiful Lonely Angel, followed by two cello soloists taking centre stage for Giovanni Sollima’s pulsating Violoncelles, Vibrez!
Max Richter’s hypnotic re-imaging of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons was originally conceived as a project of reclamation and rediscovery, ‘getting inside it… and taking a new path through a well-known landscape’.
