This three hour workshop requires no previous experience. Monoprints can be approached in different ways and a variety of techniques will be demonstrated. Participants will be drawing from available plant material, or they can use their own images or sketches. These drawings will become the blueprint on
which the monoprint is based. This method of printmaking uses a combination of stencils and colour layering to achieve a multi coloured print.
You will be shown how to:
• use stencils and plant material to create images in layers.
• ink and wipe the plate to create a handprinted image or use an etching press.
Please bring an apron and rubber gloves to protect clothes and hands.
Participants are asked to provide their own small scissors.
Your Tutor: Geraldine Walkington
Geraldine is a painter printmaker, working predominantly in two areas of interest, the landscape of the Chamonix (French Alps) valley and flora. She works directly in the environment, or from her sketchbook, in a variety of media. Her images reflect the interplay between drawing disciplines and
printmaking, and uses monoprint as one printmaking method to show how one approach informs another.
