Nicholas Daniel OBE has long been acknowledged as one of the world’s great oboists and is one of Britain’s best-known musicians. Passionate about contemporary music, he has commissioned hundreds of new works, and here is joined by frequent collaborator Huw Waltkins, notable for his equal renown as a pianist and composer. This programme is a perfectly balanced mix of old and new, from Mozart’s Sonata for Oboe, to Althea Talbot-Howard’s reworking of the 18th Century Chevalier Sonata, to a quintet of recent works commissioned by Nicholas Daniel.
