Furness Tradition was founded in 1998 and is run entirely by volunteers promoting awareness of and participation in the song, music, dance and story traditions of Cumbria, especially Furness. Besides running an annual Folk Festival in mid-July, they provide year-round workshops in schools and the community, music and storytelling sessions, and concerts. Furness Tradition’s aim is to revitalise and add to our oral and written cultural heritage.

Planet Mirth is the home of laughter in South Cumbria, featuring the finest names from the international comedy circuit. Previous guests include: Paul Merton, Lucy Beaumont, Roisin Conaty, Gary Delaney, Jojo Sutherland, Andrew Ryan, Stuart Goldsmith, Daliso Chaponda, Glenn Wool, Nathan Caton, Tom Stade, Rob Rouse, Charlie Baker, Ria Lina, Tony Law, Alun Cochrane, Nick Page, Mick Ferry, Davey Johns, Lauren Pattison and more.

For 20 years Printfest has championed printmakers and the original hand-made print by putting on a weekend festival at The Coro. The artist-led festival brings together over 40 of the best of the UK's printmakers and over 1,800 visitors, who get the chance to talk to the artists and find out more about printmaking. It runs printmaking workshops and involves creative businesses in Ulverston through Fringe activities. Printfest takes place on the early May bank holiday and is considered the beginning of the UK printmaking calendar.

UAOS is a friendly amateur group which, with over 100 years of experience and history, is part of the fabric of the town of Ulverston. Ulverston Amateurs stages musical shows from all eras, most recently A Tale of Two Cities, Anything Goes, The Producers, Wizard of Oz, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof, and Whistle Down the Wind.

Inaugurated in 2004 by Ulverston-born concert pianist and artistic director Anthony Hewitt, this annual festival stages an eclectic programme of concerts, focussing on classical music but also including jazz, folk, world music – and even comedy. Top instrumental soloists, orchestras, opera companies, chamber ensembles, brass bands, folk groups and jazz bands are showcased in a dynamic line-up of internationally renowned artists, bringing musical entertainment of the very highest quality to South Lakes.

The Ulverston Outsiders are an amateur performing arts society based in Ulverston. Their first play was performed in 1938 and, over the years, they have entertained the public with a variety of performances covering farce, thrillers, comedy and the classics and hope to do so for many more years. They generally perform one play in the spring and one in the autumn, and anyone who is interested can audition or volunteer to help backstage.

Formed in 1948, Ulverston Pantomime Society is very proud of its community credentials, proudly producing pantomimes for local people every year. The society pantomimes are entirely performed by local adults and children with a live orchestra.

Ulverston Town Council is the parish council for the town and has 18 volunteer councillors. The council organises two annual events at The Coro for the community - Ulverston Eco Fair in the spring and Carols at the Coro in December, both of which are free events for all the community.
